2018 U.S. Open Tennis Men’s Final Odds & Prediction

Juan Martin Del Potro battles Novak Djokovic for the U.S. Open Men’s Singles Championship on Sunday, September 9. Check out tennis betting analysis, and a pick for the 2018 U.S. Open Tennis Men’s Final!

2018 U.S. Open Tennis Men’s Final

When: Sep. 9 at 4:00 pm ET

  • #3 Juan Martin Del Potro vs #6 Novak Djokovic
Rafael Nadal retired before the third set in his match with Juan Martin Del Potro. Del Potro now moves on to battle U.S. Open favorite Noavak Djokovic. Before Nadal retired, Del Potro had outplayed Nadal in two sets. Del Potro beat Nadal 7-6 (7-3) to take the first set. He beat Nadal 6-2 to take the second set. Rafa didn’t look comfortable, but Del Potro is a decent player. He lost in the French Open semifinals earlier this year. He won the 2009 U.S. Open. When he’s on his game, Del Potro is one of the absolute best tennis players in the world. He should put up a good fight against Novak Djokovic. But, Djokovic is one of the rare players that can bounce back after losing momentum. In his semifinal victory over Kei Nishikori, Djokovic found himself down 1 game to 2 games in the second set. He rallied for a 6-4 set victory. Djokovic easily handled Nishikori 6-2 in the final set for a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 U.S. Open Semifinal win. Djokovic’s dominated throughout the tournament. He made one misstep, losing the second set to Martin Fucsovics in Round 1. Other than losing that set, Djokovic ran through the rest of his competition. When it comes to the head-to-head with Juan Martin Del Potro, Djokovic has dominated that as well. The two have faced each other 18 times. Del Potro’s won 4 matches. Djokovic has won 14 matches. Going back to 2007, Djokovic beat Juan Martin Del Potro in the Round of 32 at the U.S. Open. Each time after that, Djokovic’s won the head-to-head major matches, including beating Del Potro in the quarterfinals at the 2012 U.S. Open, and in the semifinals at Wimbledon in 2013. Del Potro beat Djokovic at the Rio Olympic Games in 2016. Since then, Djokovic’s won 3 straight over Del Potro. He should make it fourth straight on Sunday. Djokovic breezed through his last 4 U.S. Open matches. Del Potro worked hard to beat John Isner and struggled with Nadal in the first set. Unless something unexpected happens, Novak Djokovic should beat Juan Martin Del Potro and win his third U.S. Open.
